Riva Richmond

Content & Development Director, MicroSociety, Inc.

Riva Richmond is MicroSociety Inc.’s director of content and development. She works with MicroSociety’s CEO, staff, schools and partners to ensure the organization's strategy, content, and fundraising promote its educational mission and raise awareness of its work. In this role, she oversees and produces content that speaks to MicroSociety's network of schools and educators, supporters and funders, and the education world and public at large. She also leads foundation fundraising and has spearheaded an effort that has so far raised over $300,000 to pilot and develop MicroSociety 2.0. A Barnard College graduate, Riva joined MicroSociety full time in July 2021 after a more than 20-year career as a journalist writing for outlets like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. She also spent a year at the Committee to Protect Journalists, where she worked in development and on content strategy. She has been exposed to MicroSociety, literally, from the cradle as the daughter of MicroSociety’s late founder.
