Executive Director, Tulsa Legacy Charter School

Dr. Smith is an urban school designer. She served as Executive Director of Tulsa Legacy Charter School where she led the organization in obtaining a 75% increase in academic growth during the 2018-2019 school year. She is the former principal and middle school geography/reading teacher of Monroe MicroSociety Demonstration Academy. With over a decade of experience in education, from classroom teacher to school administrator, Kiana has the passion and skill to lead and transform educational communities. She has worked with traditional districts and public charter schools to integrate transformational practices and build educational frameworks centering on diversity and inclusion, trauma-informed practices, and innovative school design. Kiana has supported over a dozen systems leaders in increasing educational outcomes for students in vulnerable communities. She is a Mine Fellow, a Deloitte Courageous Leader participant, a Women Empowering Nation Mentor, and a Diversity and Inclusion Trainer. She holds an M.Ed in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, and a B.A in Political Science with a Concentration in Public Administration.
