When Their Voice is Center, So Is Our “Why”
When we center our students’ voices, we increase engagement and learning. This concept, long central to MicroSociety, is becoming widely accepted in the field of education. In recent years, many schools are making centering student voices a deliberate practice and, as a result, they are creating more meaningful teaching and learning experiences for both students and teachers. And this accelerated learning energizes teachers and decreases burnout because they are living their purpose. They are fulfilling their “why,” the reason they became educators.
During this session with Dr. Kiana Smith, teachers and leaders will learn how to improve school culture and outcomes by intentionally increasing students' voices. They will be able to define student voice, appreciate its importance, and understand how to use student voice to shift the cognitive and physical lift from teachers to students while also improving outcomes.
