Para Teacher, Tulsa Public Schools

Ernest “Lad” Heisten is a Para Teacher at Thoreau Demonstration Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a public middle school with about 600 sixth-eighth graders. He has been intimately involved in its MicroSociety and helped digitize many of the school's Microsociety processes, including its webpages, student hiring and elections, and banking and accounting. More recently, Lad developed a cashless-banking and point-of-sale system using Google technologies readily available to many schools, which today powers the financial system inside MicroSociety 2.0, a MicroSociety Inc. initiative to take the model online.
