Dr. Karla Manning is founder and host of “The Equity Experience Podcast” for K-12 educators and president of the Equity Leadership Group. With over 13 years of teaching experience, Manning has developed Black History curriculum and lesson plans for every grade level. Currently, she focuses on anti-racism, culturally responsive education, and anti-biased teaching; provides professional development workshops on educational equity and inclusion; and conducts equity needs assessments and strategic planning. She is a CUNY University lecturer and author of the 10-question checklist to help you facilitate conversations about educational equity and the ebook How to Prioritize Your Teaching and Leadership for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As a Chicago public school teacher, she wrote and directed the documentary “Black Lights: They Chose to Succeed.” Manning committed to a life in education after teaching in South Africa—and her professional life began when she interned with then Senator Barack Obama.
